19:30-20:20 Robin Block met Samudra
Samudra means ‘ocean’ in Indonesian. After the Second World War and the Indonesian Independence, Robin’s grandparents had to flee the former Dutch colony in 1949. They crossed an ocean to build up a new life in the Netherlands, a country whose citizens they were officially, but where they had never been before, and did not particularly receive a warm welcome.
Almost 70 years later, Robin follows his grandparent’s trail in the opposite direction and crosses the ocean back to present-day Indonesia; in search of his roots, and of lost family. With an old picture and half of an address scribbled on in his pocket, he starts a journey towards a country that had previously only existed in his imagination: in the clothes, smells and tales, both told and untold, of his grandparents.
This personal story is about breaking a long history of silence, about honoring one’s ancestors, and trying to heal old wounds. Along the way it also touches upon the shared history of the Netherlands and Indonesia, and the fate of those with mixed blood.
What is it like to belong to no culture and many cultures at the same time? How to move, speak and sing in a strange language that yet seems so familiar?

20:45-21:45 Bastiaan Vandendriessche met De Fuut
Winner of the Best International Performance Award at the 2017 Amsterdam Fringe and hit of the 2018 Brighton Fringe. Performer and playwright Bastiaan Vandendriessche’s gripping new play invites his audience to step into a darkly woven and deceptive story about his time as a leader of the Seascouts in Ghent six years ago. “The thing I love about Lolita is that you’re completely consumed and engrossed by the ardent passion of a man, who is forever doomed to crave something sinister, something twisted.” Using the power of theatre to be truly honest about his feelings of sexuality and unsettling desire wrapped up and buried within a charming persona, Vandendriessche asks his audience in these times of moral ambiguity if they believe that admiration is ever endless.

Van 22:30-23:30 speelt er een band Pierre and the Optimists.
