Omschrijving

Vorig jaar heeft fotograaf Steven Maybury vier succesvolle fotoworkshops georganiseerd voor NMLK. Hoog tijd voor de volgende! Het thema van de workshop is ‘Copy Cat’: we gaan foto’s van beroemde straatfotografen recreëren, geheel op onze eigen manier.

In het kort:
- Fotoworkshop zondag 17 augustus 10.00-14.00 uur in het centrum van Utrecht.
- Online nabespreking maandag 1 september 20:00-21:30 uur
- Voertaal is Engels, Steven is Iers
- Benodigdheden: spiegelreflex-, systeem- of bridgecamera of een compactcamera met uitgebreide instelmogelijkheden (niet geschikt voor smartphone)
- Neem je eigen lunch/snacks mee. De kop koffie aan het begin is op eigen kosten.
- Exacte ontmoetingsplek hoor je closer to date
- Annuleren/terugbetaling is mogelijk t/m donderdag 14 augustus.

The workshop:
10:00 We will begin with a coffee and a visit to a photo gallery (details to be confirmed) to be inspired by some photography.

11.00: The Copy Cat workshop will begin.

The idea of the workshop: I will have selected 5 images from 5 street photographers that we will each recreate the best we can. The selected images/photographers will offer different styles. You will receive a printed sheet with the images on them and will be sent into the city to capture / recreate or simply be inspired by these photos.

The idea is to stimulate new styles and types of photography and learn from great images already taken by the greats.

During the online follow-up on Monday 1 September, we will have a look at everyone’s images compared to the originals to see what the outcomes were - the approaches, the influence, the bettering etc.
It will be a very fun half day of pushing ourselves to find the images as best we can.

As an example (and most likely will be included) is Elliot Erwitt with his dog images (see photo in comment section). Your task would be to get a dog image that captures humour.

A little about me:
Steven Maybury has been a photographer and photography educator for the last 17 years. He has worked as a landscape photography teacher around the globe for 10 years as head of teaching of Dublin Photography School and currently Is a university lecturer in photography in NCAD. He has been teaching in the Netherlands with different schools for nearly 5 years and have discovered it to be a wealth of resources for teaching and a playground for photography fun using the unique Dutch landscape for inspiration.
